INDIANS
"Indians" usually have a black opaque base. There are one or several colored bands applied to the surface (you can feel them with your finger). Sometimes these bands are very dense (like a "Josephs Coat"), sometimes it is just one broad colored band. When the bands are all around the marble it is known as a "360 Degree"-Indian.
Indians sind Murmeln mit einer schwarzen nicht transparenten Basis. Von Pol zu Pol erstrecken sich dann eines oder mehrere farbige Bänder, die auf die Oberfläche appliziert sind (man spürt sie, wenn man mit dem Finger darüber fährt). Manchmal sind die Bänder sehr dicht aneinandergereiht wie bei einem "Josephs Coat", machmal auch nur vereinzelt. Wenn sich die Bänder rund um die ganze Murmel erstrecken nennt man diese Murmeln "360 Degree-Indian" (360 Grad Indian).
"Indians" are also usually quite small, examples over 1 inch are very rare. There is a variation called "maglite"-Indian. This type has a semi-transparent base, but usually very dark, for example purple. The marble has to be exposed to direct light in order to see the difference.
Auch Indians sind selten über 2.5cm im Durchmesser. Es gibt noch eine Variante, den sogenannten "maglite" Indian. Bei diesem Typ ist die Basis leicht transparent (z. B. dunkelviolett). Damit man das sieht muss die Murmel aber direkt angeleuchtet werden.
If an "Indian" has just one colored band we speak of a "banded"-Indian.
Wenn ein Indian nur ein einzelnes breites Band hat spricht man von einem "banded Indian":
I got the following marble a while ago but I have failed to identify it precisely. It is transparent and therfore it would be a "maglite" Indian. Further the whole marble is covered with bands which means it is a "360 degree maglite" Indian. And last but not least the baby-blue band is definately under the surface and not on top as the other bands and this would make it "submarine 360 degree maglite Indian'' I guess !?
Any additional information about this marble would be highly appreciated.
Die folgende Murmel konnte ich bis heute nicht klar einordnen. Es handelt sich offensichtlich um einen "marglite Indian" (maglite bedeutet, dass er durchscheinend ist wenn man ihn gegen das Licht hält). Sonderbar ist aber, dass das helblaue Band nicht an der Oberfläche, sondern etwas tiefer liegt. Also müsste dies ein "submarine maglite 360° Indian" sein:
