END-OF-DAY CLOUDS
Collectors call this type of marble "End-of-Day" Cloud. This term is wrong, since they have nothing in common with the typical "Cloud" marble (except the flecks). I am almost certain that these marbles are (very rare !) relatives of the "english-colored" Josephs Coats ! The colors and color-combinations are identical with those marbles and both types have no base color. So these marbles were probably made between the World Wars too. What speaks for this theory is the fact that these marbles are often found in Germany and England and rarely in the USA.
Dieser Typ Murmel wird unter Sammlern als "End-of-Day" Cloud bezeichnet. Der Begriff ist falsch, denn mit einer typischen "Cloud"-Murmel haben diese Murmeln nichts zu tun. Ich bin der Meinung, dass diese Murmeln (sehr seltene) Verwandte der "english-colored" Josephs Coats sind. Die Farben und Farbkombinationen sind identisch mit jenen Murmeln und beide verfügen über keine Grundfarbe. Demnach dürften diese Murmeln auch irgendwann zwischen den Weltkriegen hergestellt worden sein und dafür spricht auch, dass man diese Murmeln auch kaum in den USA sondern vorwiegend in England und Deutschland findet.
Because of their exclusivity "End-of-Day" Clouds are - to me personally - among the most desireable marbles of all. You can virtually not find two identical marbles, each one is a masterpiece of its own. There is only one difference to mention regarding these marbles: Some of them - usually the most spectacular ones - just only have one pontil, and were so made as stand alone marbles.
Aufgrund ihrer Exklusivität gehören für mich "End-of-Day" Clouds zu den begehrenswertesten Murmeln überhaupt. Man findet kaum zwei identische Stücke, jede ist ein Unikat. Es gibt eigentlich nur einen Unterschied: Manche dieser Murmeln - meistens die schöneren Exemplare - haben nur ein pontil und wurden demnach einzeln angefertigt.
