California Sulphides - "Kalifornien Sulphides"

In the Winter of 1993 a lot of Sulphide marbles suddenly started popping up on the markets in California and Florida. All with previously unknown figures, sometimes double figures and often in colored glass. The origin of these marbles is unknown. Despite several investigations it was never definitely proved that these marbles are fakes. But in my opinion it is obvious that they are.

As far as I have heard these marbles do not glow under black light and my experience with genuine sulphides is that they always glow. Therefore, I do consider these marbles to be fakes, but of course it is up to you to decide if you count them as real sulphides or not. What I do know is that the sudden appearance of these strange sulphides had a very negative impact to the value of sulphide marbles.

Im Winter 1993 tauchten in Kalifornien und Florida plötzlich grössere Mengen ungewöhnlicher Sulphide-Murmeln auf. Alle mit bisher unbekannten Figuren, viele Doppelfiguren und die meisten in farbigem Glas. Die Herkunft dieser Murmeln konnte nie wirklich geklärt werden. Es gelang auch bisher trotz diverser Untersuchung nicht, diese Murmeln eindeutig als Fälschungen zu identifizieren. In meinen Augen ist es jedoch offensichtlich.

Soviel mir bekannt ist fluoreszieren diese Murmeln nicht unter UV-Licht. Meine Erfahrung mit echten Sulphide-Murmeln ist aber, dass die IMMER fluoreszieren. Und deshalb betrachte ich diese Murmeln klar als Fälschungen. Selbstverständlich steht es aber jedem frei sich seine eigene Meinung zu bilden. Mit Sicherheit kann festgehalten werden, dass sich das plötzliche Auftauchen dieser Murmeln sehr negativ auf die Preisentwicklung von Sulphide-Murmeln ausgewirkt hat.
